This list while incomplete will help you to enjoy your first few outings until you modify this list based upon your experiences. Knowing what to bring is the first step.
Hiking / Trekking Poles:
Trekking Poles are used to help keep your balance, especially when hiking on uneven terrain.
The Hiking Stick is an alternative to a pair of Hiking Poles. It will be able to provide the extra support while on a trail.
While there are hiking specific backpacks, the most important aspect of any backpack is that it has enough room for what you will need on your trip.
Outdoor Night Gear:
Tents, Sleeping Bags and Pads are essential for overnight treks.
Most of these shoes will require breaking in before use on any trail. One of the more common mistakes made with new hiking footwear is wearing them before they're properly worn to fit the specific contours of the wearers feet.
