Get Ready For Your First Time

In order to play lacrosse you will need a lacrosse stick, helmet, elbow pads, shoulder pads, lacrosse gloves, a mouth guard that has been molded to your teeth, comfortable work out clothing and a good pair of sneakers or cleats. Make sure all your equipment is in good condition and meets all specifications. You must be well conditioned to play lacrosse, so before you begin you will want get in good physical shape.

Running, weight lifting, stretching and practicing skills before you step on the field is very important to avoid injury. Also, be sure to keep your body fueled and well hydrated during, before and after practice!

Preparation

Be sure to get to practice a few minutes early to allow time to put your equipment on properly.Once you have your equipment on, play catch with a teammate to work on your stick skills before practice even starts. This is important because if your stick is not throwing well you can adjust it before practice starts. You can also practice shooting on the goal before practice to increase your repetitions and muscle memory, while also making sure you do not need to adjust your stick.

Tips

Many clubs and tournaments are sanctioned by US Lacrosse, so it would be beneficial to become a US Lacrosse Member.
