Skill Level Descriptions

Skill Level Overview


A player who is trying lacrosse for the first time or who is just acquiring the basic skills to play in a competitive situation. A beginner should work on fitness and basic catching, carrying and throwing skills.


A player who has acquired the basic skills and knowledge of the game. Having joined a team, and competed against other teams multiple times. An intermediate player should be able to run plays and understand how to play both offense and defense on either end of the field.


A player who possesses the skills of both the physical and mental game of lacrosse. An advanced player should be able to use both her dominate and non-dominant hand with equal skill. An advanced player will have years of experience playing at a highly competitive level and should be able to play both ends of the field, run plays, and lead a team.
