Beginner

Starting Point: Where you are

  • Scared of water Don’t know how to swim.

Things to Learn: What to learn

  • Float and tread water.
  • Be in water with depths greater than your height.
  • Can put your head under water.
  • Learn Freestyle stroke Begin to swim constantly from one side of a pool the other.

To the Next Level: How to move up

  • Can swim freestyle up and down a 25 yard pool.
  • Can do back stroke backstroke.

Events/Activities: What you should do

  • Learn to swim programs.
  • Swim School.
  • Private Swim Lessons.
  • Aqua-Fitness groups (standing/treading in water)

Intermediate

Starting Point: Where you are

  • Has done all things to learn in beginner level.
  • Can swim freestyle down and back in a 25 year pool.
  • Can swim backstroke.

Things to Learn: What to learn

  • Continuous laps in a pool without stopping.
  • Learn freestyle/backstroke with proper kick skills and head position.
  • Learn wall pushoffs and proper dive skills.
  • Use training equipment, kick board, pull buoy, training snorkle etc.
  • Swim in a swimming event (open water, swim meet)
  • Learn all four strokes train for 2 hours in each training session

To the Next Level: How to move up

  • Can swim butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle.
  • Can swim 2 hour training session.
  • Have done cross training like dryland, running. biking.

Events/Activities: What you should do

  • Training group sessions.
  • Private swim lessons.
  • Swim Clinics and Camps.
  • Short Open Water events.
  • Summer league, YMCA, age group swimming, and masters meets.

Advanced

Starting Point: Where you are

  • Can swim all four strokes with proper starts and turns.
  • Have done multiple swimming events top 5 in your age groups)
  • Can swim easily/effortlessly for long periods of time (2+ hours)

Things to Learn: What to learn

  • Learn advanced skills in all four strokes.
  • Learn how to swim with less resistance and increase speed Swim in extreme.
  • Open Water Races in hostile conditions.
  • Swim every Olympic swimming event Teach all four strokes with advanced techniques.
  • Use ALL types of training equipment.

To the Next Level: How to move up

  • Become a World champ, Olympian and ambassador for your sport.

Events/Activities: What you should do

  • Advanced training group sessions.
  • Swim clinics.
  • Private swim Lessons.
  • Open Water: long/short races.
  • Open Water: marathon Swimming World Championships, Open Water or pool events Summer league, YMCA, age group swimming, and masters meets.
