DC’s Sanctuary Arrives in Heroes in Crisis Series from King & Mann
Tom King’s secret DC Comics title, originally thought to be called “Sanctuary,” now has an official title. King and artist Clay Mann will launch Heroes in Crisis, which will, in fact, focus on a sanctuary in the DC Universe for super-powered individuals.
“I feel like I’m part of a rolling generation of people who spent their twenties overseas fighting terrorism,” King said in a press release. “Millions of people cycle through that machine and come home to America. And I think that sort of experience of violence is shaping who we are as a culture, and as a country. And I want to talk about that. I want to talk about that experience, the experience of what violence can do to a person, to a community, to a nation, to a world.”

The press release goes on to add, “When it’s too much, and it’s often too much, heroes go to Sanctuary — created by Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman — to find a moment of safety before returning to a universe of violence.”
King first established Sanctuary in Batman #41-43, after Poison Ivy took over the minds of every person on Earth, except for Batman and Catwoman. Another possible patient of Sanctuary could be Booster Gold, who was teased to be going insane after his time-traveling adventure with the Dark Knight in Batman #44-47.
However, more information on Heroes in Crisis is revealed, as the series will investigate “a murder mystery involving Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Booster Gold, and the rest of the World’s Greatest Super Heroes.”
Tom King and Clay Mann’s Heroes in Crisis debuts on September 26 from DC Comics.
